I completely agree with Lenny. Religions seem the same only if you (1) gloss over all the details, like viewing people from far away so they all look alike or (2) rely on selective perception - pick and choose a few concepts that seem to agree while ignoring the differences.
If I was about to travel up the Amazon River, I'd need to do a lot of preparation - since I'd be putting my life at risk. I shouldn't expect a second chance. I'd do some web searching and book reading. I'd ask other people what they thought. But I'd primarily depend on an expert, experienced guide - someone who had actually been there! The Bible indicates that my ultimate destination will be heaven or hell. I'd like to go to heaven. Who can I trust to guide me there? Jesus is the only authoritative guide - since He is the only one who has been there and back.
The Bible quotes Jesus as saying, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" [John 14:6]. Was He kidding when He said this? Could He have meant something else? I believe that the Bible is trustworthy - and I believe that Jesus spoke the truth. If I want to get to my ultimate destination, it's essential for me to follow my closest friend and most trustworthy guide, Jesus.

Reply with quote | #3 | Obviously all religions are not the same. That is an easy one to disprove. Just make side-by-side lists and it is very apparent. What is the person who espouses this idea really saying? I'm not sure other than the obvious conversation stopper.
If you think that all religions are the same, try coming to Christ's Church - two millennia and getting stronger. You'll see that He was not just a good guy. He was not just a prophet. He was not a con man. He was who He said He was. Once you invite him to be Lord of your life, you'll not know how you ever lived without Him. Actually you will know how you lived without Him and you'll thank God that you don't have to do it any more.

Thank you Pastor Lenny for updated the web site and posting your new message. Every Sunday morning you never fail to pique my curiosity and spark my spirit with your preaching on the words of Jesus Christ. My membership at RBCC has been an exciting and inspiring time. I hope this will lead to attracting new people to come to our nontraditional church and check it out. The food for the body is good too!!!! |

Reply with quote | #5 | It is so true. Just because things appear similar, when you take a closer look they are not. From a distance, I would not be able to tell the difference between some toy guns and a real one. But one could cost a person their life.
In this instant society, it is easy for people to just make quick judgments and really not take a closer look. If you take the time to learn about Jesus, you will be happy to see how simple He has made it for us to be saved.
God knows His children so well! |

Joyce and I recently returned from a week abroad. How nice to return to the USA, the greatest country in the world. Are all countries alike? Well, yes in the sense that they all have borders and governments, but my country is the best. That's why people actually die trying to get here. All religions are not the same, either. I'm not going to condemm another for following a different path. It's just not for me, thanks, I'm committed to Jesus. Hear that? Committed, joined, yoked. If I start buying into the notion that all religions are the same, I run the risk of becoming a religious tourist. I'll give Hinduism a whirl next year, then maybe I'll swing over and check out a little Islam for a while. But faith is not about sampling the dessert cart or trying on different pairs of pants. it's about digging in there and believing, loving, having faith. Then, and only then, can you feel the warmth of God's love for us. |

Reply with quote | #7 | Hey Pastor Lenny,
I just read this article and I really enjoyed it. I have a teacher who accepts religious relativism and I think his belief is really taking a subversive grip on some of the student's beliefs. I think I'm going to use some of your arguments in class, if thats okay.
